Erin Fezell is the owner of KeyHolder Creations, a vintage inspired hand drawn 3D printed jewelry company based out of Nashville, Tennessee. She started her business with her first 3D printer in September 2016.
She never could quite find a fitting solution for her business. 3D printing seemed like the right fit but it was also a pipe dream due to cost.
She found her first 3D printer in a clearance section at a big box store - a $1500 competitor printer for $9.98! So as you can imagine, she couldn't pass that up. While her first 3D printer was definitely of value for what it taught her, it did come with a cost. It was a closed source printer, the build platform was super small, and anything that she printed required a raft. She could not modify any of the print settings to go with any various filament types nor were replacing parts much of an option. All of this resulted in a product that was rough on one side, would take hours to clean up after a print, and was just an embarrassing example of what 3D printing can do.
Functionality, specs, aesthetics, and cost were all the things that needed to be considered. Craftbot's printers were the only ones that hit all of her criteria!
As the popularity of her products grew, so did her need for a better machine.
She had been searching for months and debating on the right 3D printer for her business. She wanted something that provided the most features for her budget but still gave the business room to grow. She also needed the ability to control her prints more than the current system allowed.
With the Craftbots, she was able to use the included slicer (Craftware) or any third-party software. She could modify temp/speed/other various settings, mid-print on the touchscreen, also her prints are saved in case there are any power outages (the printer will give the option to carry on the print when power is restored), and the parts are easy to repair/replace without expensive ‘all in one’ pieces.
With all of this research, there was something she had not taken into consideration when she was shopping for 3D printers - the potential level of customer service that she would receive.
„Craftbot has taken me by complete surprise. My experience with Craftbot has always been nothing short of amazing. The staff at Craftbot has been solid, informative, consistent and has always gone above and beyond. Whether it’s been via chat to the folks in Hungary or a call/email/text to the United States team, Craftbot has always stood behind their products. They have single-handedly won a customer for life because they have what most other companies are lacking - they are loyal to their customers!” – said Erin
Erin is a proud owner of not one, but two Craftbot Pluses and one Craftbot 3. She currently creates various jewelry pieces that have a very organic flow to them. With her Craftbot Pluses, she is able to take the details that she sculpts with various software titles and make them a reality.
Erin also highlighted: "The details that these printers can provide is extremely impressive for the price point."
She has five current styles that she offers, with many more in the making. Because of the large build volume on the Craftbot Pluses, she is branching out to offer home decor as well!
Her customers truly help drive the movement of her business. She modestly began with only one pendant design, offered in a matching necklace and earring set, with only six color options. Now, she is at SIX designs with over FIFTY color options!
Erin is proud to say, the pieces she creates are that of her own design. She has drawn in 2D for such a long time that learning to shift into the 3D realm has been a bit of a learning curve for her. Her skills are constantly evolving and she is proud to say that her Craftbot Pluses are able to foster her growth! Now she is eagerly awaiting the Craftbot FLOW IDEX, wondering just where that printer could take her designs!”
